So, after 17 years of working one-on-one with other people about how I lost weight and changed my life, I've founded GuysLoseWeight as a way to pass this knowledge on to you from one guy to another.
The most important thing I've learned is that yes, diet & exercise are essential, but focusing only on that when you've struggled with overeating is a sure way to fail.
Why? Because we KNOW what we should be eating and we know we should be working out, but we stop doing it. Knowing what "should" be doing doesn't help us. The "I just need to go to the gym," or "I just need to eat this way" might get us there for a while, but never lasts. And, if we keep doing something the same way over and over again, we're going to get the same result. Feeling like a failure.
I call this the "could ya justs," and the reason we fail at them is a part of my program about our brains and The Willpower Myth. Also, people who don't have a hard time eating right and exercising can't understand this when we're trying to achieve weight loss, and they are usually ready with a "just do..." or two.
You can't blame them for saying it, they are trying to be helpful, and this can often be with people we have a relationship with. The point is our power of choice is affected brain wiring, so how to get yours working for rather than against you is a section in my GuysLoseWeight Program.
